Environmental Management Program
The objective of this program is to implement Mongolia’s laws, regulations, and standards within the framework of social responsibility in order to promote safe, transparent, and responsible mining; create sustainable economic development at the local level; improve citizens’ education and ensure a healthy and safe living environment; develop infrastructure; and make a tangible contribution to participatory environmental protection, monitoring, and research.
The program is implemented in Yesönbulag soum of Govi-Altai Province and is carried out over both short- and long-term periods in alignment with the proposals of the soum governor, local community input, and provincial and soum development plans.
Khan Altai Resource LLC develops an Environmental Management Plan annually based on core environmental requirements, obtains approval from the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, and ensures its implementation. The 2023 Environmental Management Plan includes mitigation and control measures addressing the adverse impacts identified in the project’s Environmental Impact Assessment.
